About Us

We are a team of engaged scholars with expertise in International Relations, Genocide Studies and Comparative Politics, and Political Philosophy. Through funding by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, we've embarked in an exploration of a range of events and accounts that center on the experience, the justification, the problematization and the remedying of extreme political violence; namely, terrorism and genocide. Our podcast series features interviews with a wide variety of experts, from Classicists to Human Geographers, who share their insights into specific aspects of the history of violence and its future. Tune into CJSW, 90.9 FM, this summer to listen to the episodes, or check on our website for our online release date.

Our in-person workshop at the University of Calgary will bring contributors together for a lineup of specialist panels on the topics discussed in the podcast series. Join the livestream on June 8th and 9th, 2023!
